Welcome to Lotus Edu Academy ("Lotus Edu", "we", "us"), a service operated by Lotus Mind Limited, a company incorporated in the Republic of Ireland on 18 September 2026 (Company No. 826314), with registered office at 10 Aderrig Manor, Adamstown, Lucan, Co. Dublin K78 A4T8, trading as Lotus Edu Academy. Our supervisory authority for data protection is the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC). These Terms govern your use of the Lotus Edu platform. By creating an account for your child or by using Lotus Edu, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. What Lotus Edu is

Lotus Edu is an AI-literacy academy for children aged 8–15. Through guided conversations and lessons, children learn how AI works, how to use it wisely, and how to think critically about it. Lotus Edu is designed to be used under parental supervision.

1a. Eligibility & age

Lotus Edu Academy is open to children aged 8–15 (with parental consent) and to adults aged 18 and over, subject to the following:

Children (aged 8–15): May only use Lotus Edu with the verifiable consent of a parent or legal guardian. The parent/guardian must create the account, provide the child's correct age, and supervise their use. By signing a child up, you confirm you are at least 18 and are that child's parent or legal guardian.
Young adults (aged 16–17): May join with an invitation and the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Although Irish law (GDPR Art. 8(1)) sets the digital age of consent at 16, Lotus Edu applies a single stricter standard across the Lotus Mind estate: a parent or guardian consents for every user under 18. We encourage parents to create accounts alongside their child.
Adults (aged 18 and over): May join Lotus Edu directly, without an invite code, by self-declaring their age and providing explicit consent at sign-up. Adults process their own data on the basis of their self-declared consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). Full identity verification is on our roadmap; self-declaration is our beta approach.

2. Accounts & parental responsibility

Child accounts (8–15):

Accounts for children are created and approved by a parent or legal guardian.
Access is by invitation only; invite codes are issued to parents.
The parent/guardian is responsible for supervising their child's use of Lotus Edu and for keeping login credentials secure.
By signing a child up, you confirm you are that child's parent/guardian and consent to their use of Lotus Edu.

Adult accounts (18 +):

Adults may register directly without an invite code by ticking the adult self-consent checkbox at sign-up.
By ticking that checkbox, you confirm you are 18 or over, and you give your explicit consent for Lotus Edu to process your personal data for the purpose of providing the platform service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
You are responsible for the security of your own account credentials.
If we have reasonable grounds to believe a user who registered as an adult is under 18, we may suspend or delete the account pending verification.

3. Acceptable use

When using Lotus Edu, you and your child agree not to:

Share account credentials or invite codes with others.
Attempt to access another user's account or data.
Use Lotus Edu to create, request, or share harmful, hateful, abusive, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate content.
Attempt to disrupt, hack, reverse-engineer, or overload the service.
Use Lotus Edu for any unlawful purpose.

⚠️ Private beta: Lotus Edu is currently a private beta. Features may change, break, or be removed, and the service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis while we improve it.

4. AI-generated content & no guaranteed outcomes

Lotus Edu's tutor is powered by AI and may occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete information. Lotus Edu is an educational aid, not a source of professional, medical, legal, or safety advice. Parents should review their child's learning — full conversation visibility is provided in the Parent dashboard. Lotus Edu is a learning tool: we do not guarantee any particular educational result, grade, or outcome, as learning depends on many factors outside our control.

4a. How we use conversations

We use your child's conversations and progress only to operate and improve Lotus Edu's educational experience for your child (for example, to personalise lessons and track progress). We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or hand a child's personal conversations to third parties to train their own AI models. 5. Intellectual property & your content

The Lotus Edu platform, branding, lessons, and software are owned by Lotus Mind Limited. Content your child creates inside Lotus Edu (notes, journal entries, lesson responses) belongs to the child/parent. You grant Lotus Edu a limited licence to store and display that content solely to operate the service for you. You can request its deletion at any time (see our Privacy Policy).

6. Suspension & termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms or is used in a way that harms other users or the service. You may stop using Lotus Edu and request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected].

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lotus Edu (a private beta) is provided without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

8. Privacy

Your privacy and your child's data are covered by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms and is written to comply with GDPR and COPPA.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Lotus Edu evolves. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where we hold a parent email, give at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect (immediate changes may be made where needed for legal compliance or child safety). Continuing to use Lotus Edu after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dublin, Ireland. Nothing in these Terms removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under Irish or EU law.
